Located in historic "Building 50," a 19th century insane asylum, Gallery Fifty is a must visit if you’re heading to Traverse City, Michigan. The somewhat out-of-the-way building is filled with eclectic shops and restaurants (download directions from the website before you go), and sits beside one of the most amazing brick oven bakeries in all of Michigan. Gallery Fifty carries a large selection of Cherie's metal art, and Cherie is one of a select group of 150 regional and North American artists represented there.




A bit more about Gallery Fifty: Gallery Fifty’s focus is on the marketing of art and fine craft to the visitors and residents of northern Michigan. The media mix includes ceramics, glass, fiber, metal, wood, painting, photography, and furniture.  The stated goal of the gallery is to help reshape the widely-held perception of “craft” and create a venue where original design, functionality and workmanship are elevated to the status of “fine art.” Themes of antiquity and mystery, work created with aged materials or made to look old, “found art” and recycled or repurposed pieces are given special prominence.

Theresa Shirlow, owner of this popular Michigan-based art gallery and gift shop was the first retailer/curator to approach Cherie about representing her work in a gallery. Since then, Cherie’s metal art has been a hit at the Dancing Eye, and the gallery continues to offer a wide-ranging selection of Cherie’s pieces.


A bit more about Dancing Eye: An art gallery and gift shop, Dancing Eye specializes in handmade artisan tiles and unusual gift items. Its one-of-a-kind gifts come from an eclectic collection of such items as handcrafted jewelry, funky clothing, pewter switch plates and handbags. Much of what is sold and displayed at Dancing Eye is created by Michigan artists and artisans.
